Frequently Asked Money Questions

When do you need for the support to start?
Please start as soon as you are able.  It is important that our supporters do not wait until we leave for the field,
even though we are leaving in December.  The amount which accumulates before going to the field will fund the
one-time amount needed for training, relocation, and itineration.

What is the cost of living like in Sydney, Australia?
Surprisingly, it is slightly higher than even Orange County, CA.  In fact, technological goods (cars, computer,
electronics, etc.) are about 150% of the cost in the U.S..  Everything is relatively more expensive in Sydney than in
other parts of Australia.  (Compare CA/NY versus Mid-West.)  Even houses are more expensive than in Orange
County, but the rents are about the same.

Who determines your monthly and annual budget?
Our sending agency, Mission to the World (MTW), drafts the budget according to our need and relative cost of living
abroad.

Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes, 100% of your contribution is tax-deductible.

What kind of accountabilities are in place for financial integrity?
MTW belongs to Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) who performs periodic independent audit of
all activities; then on a micro-level, we are under the care and oversight of our field director and supervisor, as well
as our home church (NLMC) missions committee.

How much of the support do you need to raise before you can go out to the field?
We need to have raised 100% of our support before departure.  This way, we are not having to continue our
support raising even while on the field, while focusing 100% on the church-planting effort.

If I decide to support financially, will it have to be for a long-term?  What is the extent of my commitment?
Unlike a short-term trips, this ministry is a long-term project.  Therefore, we desire your partnership for the long-
haul.  But, of course, you may choose to support for any duration of time.  We're thankful for any length of
partnership we can have with you, but certainly hope to have a lasting relationship that together longs to see the
vision fulfilled.

How long will you be out there?
Well, we’re called to go, but haven’t been called to come back just yet.  We’ll be out there for at least one term, but
as long as we’re needed.  "One-term" is four years, and it is comprised of three years of field work, and one year of
home mission assignment (HMA).
